We have a buyer of ours that requires users with purchase order capability to have their orders approved by their supervisors. Ends up being about 320 users which each of them has a supervisor to approve their order. The problem is there are top level supervisors that have multiple users below them that are supervisors of others users. When you setup rules in Four 51 any order submitted by or approved the user requires approval by their supervisor that is setup above them. If the lowest level user places any order then depending on the number of people above him then that user might need 5 approvals before his order can be completed.
Has anyone come upon this and if so have you figured out a work around?
Thanks

As I understand this, you have a bottom teir user place an order you only want their supervisor to approve it. The chain stops their, but if the 1st approver were to place an order of their own, then their supervisor needs to approve it and then the process stops again.
The only viable solution I can think of for this is to have 2 logons for your approvers. 1 logon that they use to approve orders placed by people below them, and 1 logon that they will use to place orders that need to be approved by their own supervisor, which will then be tied to a new approval rule.
This will mean that you will need more approval rules though.

I think adding users for just approvals complicates the matter further even though it would solve this issue. I would go for it but not sure the executives at their company would. _________________ |

The issue is that there are not any controls to stop the approval process. If you have an approval rule for the approvel there isn't a way to make it stop if it was not an order that person was placing for themselves. I recomend that if you need more help on this that you submit a case with specifics about the buyer and how you want it to function. _________________ |
