I am curious how everybody processes business cards, letterhead, etc. via Four 51 while using shells. We are running into the problem of how to identify what shell is being processed when there are multiple options on one business card. I have created a run around where I have the options for the card identified as a variant identifier, but when the card goes to the supplier to download from the supplier ftp site, it does not bring the quantity into the file name. The only way for the supplier to identify the quantity is to run a report or look at each order to catch the quantity, which creates more manual work for the supplier. Can someone let me know of there process, so I can see how other businesses are doing it.

Thanks
JJ

I dont know if this would be the best solution but you could make a required field on the project that indicated quantity and applied the number to a non-printing color on the project file. Of course you would need to make sure the supplier is aware that you have a color that does not print on future projects.

Like I said probably not the best solution but it is a work around.

We are trying to avoid making the customer select the quantity in two places. Is there a way with scripting to have a quantity variable that when selected would populate the results in the order quantity field.

This won't officially knock out the idea of entering the quantity twice, but I'll throw out a suggestion.

Put the quantity in the spec form. Use price breaks for the choices so your pricing is calculated accurately, and turn the actual quantity into a simple "1" selection.

It would be similar to saying "Buy 1 set of 500 business cards".
