I need a way to collect and process information through Four51 when orders are placed within an external site. In other words, I need to be able to capture an order as if it were native to Four51 yet placed on an external site elsewhere on the web.

Doing so will allow me to track inventory and other order information through Four51 without my customer having to use our (Four51) order page.

Is this possible?

Hi John,

Sounds like a candidate for cXML PunchOut. PunchOut allows a company to host a shopping cart, but add items from your Four51 catalog into their cart. It's a fairly common integration method with some of the big ERP applications like Oracle, PeopleSoft, Ariba, etc. It works great for versioned, Pageflex documents, as most commerce applications don't suppoart variable rendering.

Unfortunately, though, Four51's PunchOut capabilities don't support inventory very well, so if inventory tracking is a critical component, this may not work for you.

What would it take to implement such a service? Is it an extra charge? Is there someone at Four51 who would be willing to chat with our Web Developer? How can one go about learning more about this cXML PunchOut service?

Hi John,

I'll send you an email offline to setup a time to talk. Would be more than happy to discuss with you and your web developer.

In the meantime, there are some documents on the web you might want to checkout. The first is our PunchOut User Guide on AccessFour51: http://myaccess.four51.com/s.nl/ctype.KB/it.I/id.46125/KB.264/.f?category=13

The second is the User Guide provided by the cXML organization: http://xml.cxml.org/current/cXMLUsersGuide.pdf

The documentation from the cXML organization defines the technical standards for implementing PunchOut, while Four51's documentation discusses our specific implementation of PunchOut in the Four51 application.

Owen,

I have another customer who is interested in the Four51 PunchOut system. I can't remember what the charges were for implementing this service. Are there both monthly and initial set up fees?
